It is anticipated that the famous fir trees that were taken down in the summer to provide better views of the Formula One race would be placed back on the pavement in front of the Bellagio fountains.
The owner of the resort, MGM Resorts International, appears to be moving quickly to restore the distinctive fir tree design.
In an email on Monday night, Krystal Webb from MGM stated that the streetside tree species and timing are still being considered. She did, however, reaffirm the previously stated information that the trees by the lake are expected to return by the end of the year.
Bellagio's plan to improve sightlines for Formula One spectators, who congregated in the temporary 3,600-seat, three-story Bellagio Fountain Club built on the pavement in front of the fountains, included the decision to remove all the trees. Following F1 regulations, the building work resulted in traffic jams and unhappiness from the public throughout the spring until just before the Grand Prix earlier this month.
After the Grand Prix ended on November 18, MGM pledged to quickly return the area in front of its hotels to normal before Christmas. Vice president of citywide events planning at MGM Resorts, Andrew Lanzino, stressed the construction's temporary nature and the necessity of keeping it in line with Bellagio's esteemed reputation.
